As of 2010, R-22 (also know as Freon®) was discontinued for use in new air conditioning systems. The new refrigerant (R-410A) can take awhile to dial in, this is a very critical step in operating efficiency. In fact, improper installation can reduce system efficiency by up to 30 percent—costing you more on your utility bills and possibly shortening the equipment’s life.
